Introduction
This document contains transcriptions and English translations from the Workbook , an early 20th-century Bukovinian handwritten book copied in Canada by Tudan Iohann (also written as Johann Tudam or Judan Johann) from Koselkie, Bukovina.
The workbook contains two major folk religious texts that were extremely popular among Ukrainian and Bukovinian immigrants:
- Лист Божий (Heavenly Letter) – an apocryphal protective prayer.
- Сон Пресвятої Богородиці (Dream of the Most Holy Theotokos) – another widely copied protective prayer that often follows the Heavenly Letter in folk notebooks.
Both texts include moral commandments, promises of divine protection, warnings of judgment, and practical instructions (especially fasting rules and situational prayers).
